    Avatars!

    Avatars

It seems that some people try to look good, some don't want to show their face, and some look kind of scary. I'm wondering, how do you choose your profile picture? Were you concerned about who might see you? Did you care?
If you are not comfortable using real photos to represent yourself in any online profiles, you can create a cartoon character of yourself.  It’ll definitely be fun and unique to others when you are representing yourself in a cartoonized way in any online profiles.

An avatar is a digital cartoon-like representation of a real person. Thanks to many free web services, you do not have to pay an artist for your cartoon illustrations. All you have to do is upload your photo, or perform some mix and match.
You can create avatars to use with your logins in VoiceThread, Google Apps, and other web tools. You can also incorporate your avatar into a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation.  If you have a wiki, a blog, a website or participate on a Social Networking site, chat, you can create an avatar to represent yourself.  Below you will find a few websites that I have collected where you can create an avatar.

Click on the links below to explore Avatar websites.  You can search for other avatar sites as well.  If you find another avatar site, please make a comment on this post so that Mrs. James can add it to our list.

    ASSIGNMENT

Create a post showing the different avatars that you created!  Take a screen shot or download the picture and add it to your post.  You should have several examples.

Add the link to each avatar site on your post.

    Describe each website.

AVATAR WEBSITES - CREATE YOUR OWN!

Portrait Illustration Maker is a service which provides character icons completely free of charge! They are available for your blog site or SNS. If you’d like to save the completed avatar, right-click on the icon. And then select “Save Picture As… ” from the menu.

    Google Voice/Tallk

Google Voice gives you one number for all your phones -- a phone number that is tied to you, not to a device or a location. Use Google Voice to simplify the way you use phones, make using voicemail as easy as email, customize your callers' experience, and more.

Google Voice isn't a phone service, but it lets you manage all of your phones. Google Voice works with mobile phones, desk phones, work phones, and VoIP lines. There's nothing to download, upload, or install, and you don't have to make or take calls using a computer.

Google Voice will let you define which phones ring, based on who's calling, and even let you ListenInTM on voicemail before answering the call. We use smart technology to route your calls. So, if you're already on a Google Voice call, we'll recognize it and use call waiting to reach you on the phone you're on.

    Google's Mission:
     to organize the world's information

    Today's Topic - Google Drive
    • Spreadsheet
    • Presentation
    • Google Plus
    Google Plus

Google+ is a social networking and identity service that is owned and operated by Google Inc. Google has described Google+ as a "social layer" that enhances many of its online properties, and that it is not simply a social networking website, but also an authorship tool that associates web-content directly with its owner/author.  It is the second-largest social networking site in the world after Facebook. 540 million monthly active users are part of the Identity service side, by interacting socially with Google+'s enhanced properties, like Gmail, +1 button, and YouTube comments. In October 2013, Google counted 540 million active users, of which 300 million users are active in "the stream".

A Google Plus account is based upon a Googleprofile.  You control which bits of information are visible to the world. You can build a personal bio, share information like your address, phone number and e-mail, and add in links to your personal or professional Web sites. Google lets you decide which audiences can see each section of information. Don't want the whole world to know where you live? You can choose to share that information with select groups of people or keep it private. If you're sensitive about your private information, you can build a Google profile using only your name -- Google doesn't require you to include additional information.

    Google Drive

    Google Drive. Keep everything.

    Share anything.

Google Drive is everywhere you are—on the web, in your home, at the office and on the go. So wherever you are, your stuff is just...there. Ready to go, ready to share. 5 GB free.

    Google Drive is available for:
    • PC and Mac
    • iPhone and iPad (coming soon)
    • Android devices

Store your files in a safe place.

Things happen. Your phone goes for a swim. Your laptop takes an infinite snooze. No matter what happens to your devices, your files are safely stored in Google Drive

    Go beyond storage. Collaborate.

Google Drive lets you do more than just store your files. Share files with exactly who you want and edit them together, from any device.

Google Drive gives you instant access to Google Docs, a suite of editing tools that makes working together better—even when your teammates are miles away.
